Rotary Club of Midnapore was established on 1970 and till now the journey continues by doing various type of projects for the betterment of society. We had started free IOL screnning camp as a special project 12 years ago for the needy and underprivileged patients in different interiors of Purba and Paschime Medinipur district in association withNetra Nirmoy Niketan Eye Hospital, Chaitanyapur in 2011, it was felt that our locality needed effective eye treatment/ care facilities at reasonable rates far patients of the lower and middle income group and free treatment for the needy and underprivileged.
On the initiative of the PDG Shekhar Mehta of Rotary International District-3290, and under the leadership of the PP Madan Mohan Maity of Rotary Club of Midnapore, members of RC Midnapore proposed to establish an eye hospital to provide eye care / treatment to the needy and underpriviledge.
Rotary Club of Midnapore accepted the challenge in spite of severe manpower and financial constraints. In course of the journey, Rtn. Hiraral yadav of Rotary Club of Hoogly joined the planning process and proper implementation of the project.
Our own small club building in expanded and renovated, necessary eqipment in purchased and installed. A more spacoius building ao approximately 10000 sq.ft. floor ares has been build up. Construction att a cost of Rs.1.5 Crores has been completed. Now, we acn treat 50,000 patients in out dorr and do 9000-10000 surgeries every eyar.
In this noble cause, support of like minded people is very much essential. the Rotarians of Rotary Club of Midnapore and Trustees of Midnapore rotary Trust assure for proper implementation of the project. The joint efford will be a difference in the life of so many visually impaired and blind needy patients.
