Serving the humanity is equivalent to serving the God. Service to humanity means attempt to help the poverty-stricken people, the handicapped, the week and the desperate. This quality distinguishes a man from brute Animals. We should not think it as a sacrifice on our part, instead it is done and driven with a greater motive of doing the good to the society. As long as humanity lives, humans live. A human being becomes truly a human only when he or she tries to make others secure, comfortable and happy. To go beyond one’s own self and serve others is social service. Such statements as “To serve humanity is to serve God” and “Service before Self”, bring out the importance of social service. Most respected Paul P. Harris founded the Rotary International is an international service organization whose stated purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian service and to advance goodwill and peace around the world. Florence Nightingale, the Lady of the Lamp, gave a new turn to nursing by her selfless service to the sick and dying. Madam Curie dedicated her life to the task of making science serves mankind. Jean Henri founded the Red Cross organization. Even our self-interest should make us serve others. For we rise or fall with our society, Individual happiness depends upon social happiness.
God is realized through services to mankind. Truly speaking, man is the real God as per the Vedas. He is worshipped through various services (Yajnas). we should know whatever appears in the pure mind is the voice of God. In the Vedic age research centers were opened to treat of health human beings properly. To cure ills was the primary service to man at that time and it is also equal important now. The Rishis used to pray for research of sacred knowledge and holy wishes to serve humanity, such as (I). “imam cha no gaveshanam sataye sishadho ganam” (Rigveda:6.56.5), Let us discover pure knowledge to serve the mankind, and (ii). “Abhyurnoti yat nagnam vishakti vishvam yat turam, premandhah khyannih shrono bhut”(Rig.8.79.2)-O the Lord of the Universe, may we be blessed with sacred thoughts to feed the hungry, to cloth the naked, to cure the sick, to give light to the blind, and to treat the lame to move and the deaf and dumb to hear and speak.
In connection to the mission, vision & the goal of the generous members of the Rotary Club of Midnapore related to service to humanity & social work for the society continued in full swing and thus, we established the Midnapore Rotary Eye Hospital. This is one of the many projects that our club has undertaken and working round the clock to serve the suffering, underprivilege and empty-handed people related to eye checkups, treatments, modern surgeries and many more.
In this course of Journey, PP Rtn Hiralal Yadav of Rotary Club of Hooghly fully supported us for proper planning and implementation of this project in the heart of Midnapore town. and Jadav ji is our Chief Adviser of the Midnapore Rotary Eye Hospital,
The eye hospital was inaugurated by Past President R.I Rtn. Sri Kalyan Banerjee and accompanied by Rtn. Sri Shekar Mehta Past R.I Director, at 27th November 2014, towards the social mission of the club members.
And now we have proud for associated on with world famous Arabind Eye Hospital Madurai, and we have proud to say we have rendering the world class eye care services,
I hope we all know about our endless efforts & contribution to provide crystal clear vision to each & everyone around Midnapore, Jhargram, part of Purba Medinipur & Bankura, and in the surrounding areas. To give a very short view of our continuing works, we are organizing eye checkup and screening camps & Vision care centers by weekly & monthly basis at different interior rural locations of Paschim Medinipur, Jhargram and part of Purba Medinipur and Bankura. We are also very much motivated to desire people and also provide free of cost pickup and drop facilities to every underprivilege people from interior rural belts to our eye costless eye surgeries. Our team is on the main stream to provide medicines, medical facilities, critical eye surgeries, eye glasses & spectacles, etc. totally free of cost to the necessitous & underprivilege people of the above area also many parts from South Bengal and we also specially provide eye care services at best and as per international standards to affordable upper class people in our hospital as per their needs.
In this continuous process of serving the humanity & the society, along with all the hard efforts of our members and selfless motivation of our team, one more very important aspect is financial support. It is not to forget that due to the open-hearted financial assistance of our beloved members and many kind hearted citizens of our state, we are able to stand here at this position with endless number of successful works. It is only their support of which we are able to form this EYE HOSPITAL and able to provide services with all modern & scientific equipments. While we happily remember these contributions, we also would like to share that our members & our team is having many more upcoming plans & projects for the upliftment & social service, care & treatment for the poverty-stricken, suffering & unprosperous people around our locality. To overcome all barriers and implement our plans, along with hard work we also need economical & financial support from all equal minded people around us. As because support & contribution from many can change the way of living in our society, we should also remember that small contributions can bring light back in lives of many suffering children & elderly ones. All your financial support will help us to move forward with all our social causes and will also bring smile on uncountable faces which cannot be purchased. We pray to the Almighty for your peace and divine bliss and attaining immortality, where the Rishi says “dakshinavanto amritam bhajante dakshinavantoh pratiranta ayuh” (Rig.1.125.6)- the liberal donors attain immortality and are blessed with long and glorious life. We will be very much thankful for all your open-hearted support and we sincerely feel our self-honored for your noble wish to walk together with us along with all our dreams to serve the humanity & the society.
